Hitotsubashi University 5th Chubu Academia Symposium “Issues in Japanese-Style Management: What Are People in Manufacturing Lacking?”

The Hitotsubashi University 5th Chubu Academia Symposium “Issues in Japanese-Style Management: What Are People in Manufacturing Lacking?” was held at Midland Hall, Nagoya, under beautiful, clear skies on Saturday, November 15, 2014.

After Susumu Yamauchi, former President of Hitotsubashi University, gave the opening remarks, Takatoyo Yasui, President of the Josuikai Nagoya Branch, delivered the opening address. Then Takashi Kawamura, Mayor of Nagoya City, gave the guest speech followed by the keynote speech by Kentaro Nobeoka, Dean of the Institute of Innovation Research. After that was a panel discussion moderated by Tsuyoshi Numagami, Professor at the Graduate School of Commerce and Management. The panelists were Tomoyuki Ota, Representative Managing Officer of Makita Corporation, Taizo Ogura, Managing Director of Hoshizaki Electric Co. Ltd., Akira Fujii, Head of the Policy Planning Office of the Ceramic Department of Denso Corporation, and Dean Kentaro Nobeoka.

Approximately 250 people, including students, citizens, and employees of corporations and public agencies as well as graduates of Hitotsubashi University, attended the symposium and asked many questions.
