The 2nd Annual Hitotsubashi Summer Institute

The 2nd Annual Hitotsubashi Summer Institute was held over six days between August 1 and 6, 2016. The event was sponsored by the Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS) in the Sano Shoin Hall as its main venue.

Following the opening speech by President Koichi Tadenuma, four sessions were held on the themes of international trade and FDI; Economic Development; Economics of Service (Microfoundations, Measurement, and Productivity Policy); and Macroeconomics and Econometrics. These themes were all critical topics regarded as priority area research projects at HIAS. During these sessions, a series of manuscripts were presented by front line scholars as well as rising younger researchers. A total of 70 research papers were presented (of which 30 papers were from foreign scholars), and the papers were followed by active discussion among the participants. A total of 250 people participated during these six days; the event closed as a success.
