(To all students) Notice about our policy on classes for the 2021 academic year

We would like to let you know about our policy on classes for the 2021 academic year, as it stands at present. This content is subject to change depending on the situation going forward. Please also note that we intend to let you know the most up-to-date information about any future revisions to this policy via the university website, etc.

For classes held in the 2021 academic year, as many classes as possible will be held face-to-face, with a limit on capacity set for each classroom to avoid the “Three Cs (Closed spaces, Crowded places, Close-contact settings)”. However, for courses taken by many students, where classroom allocation is difficult, classes will be held online.

Points to note

(1)	When holding face-to-face classes, the capacity limit for each classroom shall be no more than half the total capacity, and measures to prevent the spread of infection shall be implemented.
(2)	In order to control the numbers of students taking each course according to the capacity of the classroom, it is intended that registration for most courses will take place via online lottery.
(3)	We intend to make it possible for those classes held online (via on-demand streaming) to be offered as “Other” in the Day and Period category, in order to permit students to register for several such courses, without being limited to particular days or times. However, there are limits due to the CAP system.
(4)	We intend to make the sixth period (19:45 – 21:30) available for online classes held only via live video-streaming such as Zoom.
(5)	If a State of Emergency is once again declared or the university is requested to suspend classes due to circumstances such as the increased spread of the novel coronavirus, the ways in which classes are held may be changed: for example, the implementation of face-to-face classes may be cancelled.
