School of Business Administration (SBA) & School of International Corporate Strategy (ICS) Received an International Accreditation of AACSB

August 6, 2021

The School of Business Administration (SBA) and the School of International Corporate Strategy (ICS) have been accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). SBA and ICS are the very first public university business schools which have received AACSB accreditation, and also the sixth to earn this in Japan.

Since its establishment in 1875 as a private Commercial Training School, the University has played a central role in business education and research in Japan through the transition from the government-run the Tokyo Commercial School, to the Tokyo Higher Commercial School, to the Tokyo University of Commerce.

AACSB is a leading international accreditation organization for management education based in the United States, and less than 6% of business schools in the world are accredited by AACSB.

Our AACSB accreditation covers a wide range of business-related educational programs, including (1) undergraduate programs, (2) MBA, EMBA (Master of Business Administration), and DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) programs, and (3) MSc and Ph.D. programs for researcher training ((2) and (3) are graduate programs).

AACSB international accreditation of the Graduate School of Business Administration and the Faculty of Commerce* will facilitate further advancement and internationalization of business education and research of the School.

*The Graduate School of Business Administration (School of Business Administration and School of International Corporate Strategy) and the Faculty of Commerce are also known as the Hitotsubashi University Business School (HUB).
