President Nakano Joins Globally Live-Streamed International Symposium

On November 17, 2020, an international symposium was held online under the sponsorship of IE University, Spain, one of Hitotsubashi University (HU)’s partner institutions for global exchange programs. President Nakano participated as a panelist.

Under the symposium’s theme “Reinventing Higher Education: New Realities, New Visions for Higher Education,” the four panelists from prestigious universities in Japan, United Kingdom, France, and South Africa discussed issues facing higher education in the post-coronavirus era.

The panelists were as follows;

Satoshi Nakano, President, Hitotsubashi University, Japan
Anthony C. Grayling, Master, New College of the Humanities, United Kingdom
Frédéric Mion, President, Sciences Po, France
Mamokgethi Phakeng, Vice-Chancellor, University of Cape Town, South Africa

In the panel discussion, President Nakano talked about the HU’s initiatives for COVID-19 and his vision toward the future after the pandemic. All the panelists expressed their willingness toward university reform to transform the crisis into an opportunity.
