President Nakano gives a lecture at an international symposium on globalization of higher education

On September 29, 2022, President Satoshi Nakano participated as a lecturer in an international symposium on globalization of higher education hosted by Renmin University of China.
 

The symposium, titled “Networks for Globalization: The Future of Higher Education,” was held in a hybrid format combining in person and online participation. President Nakano participated online in a panel regarding inter-university networking (multilateralism). The participants in the panel included representatives from our partner universities, Chinese university of Hong Kong, National Chengchi University and El Colegio de México, as well as Indiana University, University of Sussex, University College Dublin, National Research University Higher School of Economics and University of Macau.
 
President Nakano noted in his presentation that multilateralism is no longer a distant goal for universities around the world, but a global standard and introduced Hitotsubashi University’s multilateral initiatives such as SIGMA and U7+. He also expressed his desire to create a global network which integrates humanities and sciences, and explained the faculty/graduate school of social data science which will be launched in the next academic year.
