International Forum for Law School Students was held at Renmin University of China

On Sunday, May 31, 2015, the 2015 International Forum for Law School Students was held at Renmin University of China. From Hitotsubashi University, Prof. Hitoshi Aoki, Dean of the Graduate School of Law, Prof. Yunhai Wang, Professor of the Graduate School of Law, and Ms. Mirei Sato, a third-year undergraduate student of the Faculty of Law, attended the forum. Prof. Aoki delivered an address at the opening ceremony of the forum.

 

This third international forum was attended by law students from Japan, China, Korea, the UK, France, the US, South Africa, and other Asian and European countries, and the students presented their research on the theme of this year’s forum: “The Relationship of Government & Market in the Perspective of Law.” Ms. Sato, who attended the forum representing Hitotsubashi University, gave a presentation on private finance initiative prisons in Japan.

 

Before and after the forum, visits to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China and the Great Wall were arranged along with a lecture on China’s economic development and legal issues by Prof. Tianlong Hu, Renmin University of China. Through attending the forum, the students enjoyed meaningful discussions on legal issues in their own countries, their current studies, and research with peers from other countries.
