The government announced the names of recipients of Person of Cultural Merits. Emeritus Professor Kotaro Suzumura (formerly Professor, Institute of Economic Research) was chosen for his distinguished achievement in the field of Social Choice Theory and Welfare Economics as well as taking a leading role in the Economic Society.
