Overseas institutions in the Academic Exchange Program

Student Exchange Agreements

As of May 2005, Hitotsubashi University had academic exchange programs (university-wide agreements and faculty agreements) with 47 universities around the world. In addition, Hitotsubashi has entered into student exchange agreements with 25 of those universities. In principle Hitotsubashi exchanges two students per year with these institutions (exceptions include three students with the University of Cologne and the University of Pennsylvania and five students with the University of California). The student exchange agreements stipulate that tuition be mutually waived for exchange students, so that Hitotsubashi students do not have to pay tuition at the overseas institution they attend. They do, however, have to pay tuition to Hitotsubashi during the exchange period.

The student exchange agreements allow the universities involved to share information, build up relationships of mutual trust, and improve the quality of their exchange programs.

Students interested in attending Hitotsubashi University as exchange students should inquire at the office or department in charge of student exchange programs at their home university.
