Japanese courses for exchange students, research students
and students of Japanese studies
Japanese courses are in principle for intermediate level students (Level 3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test) or higher, and it is recommended that students have already studied basic Japanese before they enter Hitotsubashi University.
Japanese Courses for Full-time Undergraduate and Graduate Students
For freshmen, “Japanese A” and “Japanese B” are offered. Furthermore, courses such as
Advanced Japanese II, Oral Expressions III, Written Expressions III, Translation II and Advanced Reading are available for freshmen and sophomores. For graduate students, language courses are taught at the Graduate Schools of Economics, Law, Social Sciences and Language & Society. Graduate students of other faculties can also register for these courses.
Japanese Preparatory Course at the Center for Student Exchange
A six-month (five days/36 hours per week) intensive Japanese preparatory course is offered for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship Students. The course begins in April and October, with a maximum of 30 students. Other international students are allowed to take this course by permission of the Director of the Center.
