Susumu Yamauchi, President of Hitotsubashi University, attended the launching ceremony of "CAMPUS ASIA" in Beijing, China, as part of the Trilateral Summit Meeting among Japan, China and the Republic of Korea, May 12 to May 14.
The ceremony was held on May 13, 2012 at the Great Hall of the People and was attended by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Myun-bak, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, and presidents and students of universities in the three countries.
Presidents of universities selected for the Re-Inventing Japan Project "CAMPUS Asia" such as Hitotsubashi University, Nagoya University, and Ritsumeikan University from Japan, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Renmin University of China from China, and the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, Sungkyunkwan University, and Dongseo University from Korea attended the ceremony, which included a photo session and cultural exhibitions by students, and was deemed a great success.
The Re-Inventing Japan Project is a subsidiary program of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), aiming to extend focused financial support to university programs for strategically accepting international students and promoting international exchange and collaborative education among Japanese students and students from China, Korea, and the U.S.A., among others. The project will help promote the internationalization of Japanese universities and develop global human resources through assuring the quality of education in a global framework and establishing strong networks in higher education among Asian countries, the U.S.A. and others.
Hitotsubashi University received the CAMPUS Asia grant for the program "Asia Business Leaders Program" at the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy (Program Director: Professor Kasuo Ichijo, Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy, Hitotsubashi University).
