The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) has made an announcement regarding international students on MEXT scholarship programs who have temporarily left Japan due to the East Japan Earthquake and/or their government's evacuation warning and who wish to apply for leave of absence this school year.

Notice

MEXT Scholarship Students (Undergraduate and Graduate Students) who wish to apply for temporary leave from the university because of the East Japan Earthquake can do so without having the period of leave subtracted from their scholarship period, and will thus be able to receive the scholarship for the number of months already decided on even if they take leave. Please note, however, that this measure is not applicable to Research Students, for whom there is no system of leave of absence. Students wishing to take leave from April 2011 must contact the International Affairs Office by Friday, April 22. Note that no requests made after April 22 will be accepted.
