Information on the Probable Cases of the Influenza A– Swine Influenza
Two probable cases of the Influenza A were identified at Hitotsubashi University today. We now count a total of eighteen cases with sixteen undergraduate students and two staff member; however, all of them have recovered already. The evaluation by the Public Health Center confirms there was one case of the Influenza A-H1N1 among them.
While we maintain our recommendation to take the preventative measures in hygienic practices (washing your hands diligently and gargling frequently), we also suggest that you carry masks with you and put them on when necessary.
For students, staff and faculty, we ask that you consult a medical institution immediately to be evaluated if you have flu-like symptoms such as fever and refrain from coming to the campus. If you are diagnosed with the Influenza A, please call in to report so at one of the contact numbers below. As for students who missed examinations as a result of such medical consultation, ｙｏｕ will be able to retake examinations at a later date, so please stay at home. For the details on post examinations, contact the Educational Affairs Division.
To prevent the further spread of influenza, we ask that you avoid attending activities with your student groups, seminar trips and other meetings if you are feeling sick or have just recovered from the flu symptoms.
As we continue to monitor the spread of the Influenza A, we may take new measures depending on the situation. We ask that you continue to act with prudence and check available information including our university website. The University may contact the students individually regarding this matter. Your cooperation is appreciated.
