The Second Policy Forum in Asia on Monetary Policies in East Asia was held at No.2 Meeting Room, Run Run Shaw Conference Center, Renmin University of China on Friday, April 22, 2011. This forum was co-hosted by Hitotsubashi University and Renmin University of China. This year it was held in Beijing following the first forum held at Josui-Kaikan in Kanda last April. Eminent researchers were invited from Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, Taiwan National Chengchi University, Yonsei University and Kyungpook National University and discussed the topic “Monetary Policies in East Asia”.
From Hitotsubashi University, following the opening speech by President Yamauchi, Professor Kitamura of the Institute of Economic Research gave a keynote speech under the title of “Monetary Policy in Japan”. Executive Vice President Ogawa summarized 4 keynote speech reports and defined the problem of the forum. In the panel discussion after the keynote speeches, researchers from each university reported from various viewpoints. In panel discussion 2, Professor Kitamura took the rostrum again and commented on the reports from Korea and Hong Kong. At the closing session, Executive Vice President Oshiba delivered his greetings and informed the participants that the forum will be held next year in Tokyo.
