Welcome Party for new international students was held on November 5

A Welcome Party for new international students was held on November 5, 2014 at Mercury Hall (7th floor of Mercury Tower). Over 200 guests attended the party including new international students, guests from local city halls, Josuikai, and international volunteer groups as well as Vice President Ryo Oshiba, staff members and student tutors from the university.

The party began with President Susumu Yamauchi’s opening address, followed by congratulatory speeches from Mr. Kazuo Nagami from Kunitachi City Office, Ms. Kayo Sano from Soroptimist International, Kunitachi and Mr. Touzou Seki from Josuikai. Students from the Asian Public Policy Program (APPP) at the Graduate School of International and Public Policy gave a great performance and Ms. Teresa Leneke from Germany (Faculty of Law) also gave an impressive speech as an international student representative.

Matcha and dry sweets were presented by the tea ceremony club at Hitotsubashi University. All who attended enjoyed the party in a friendly atmosphere.

The party was hosted in English as well as Japanese for the first time. Everyone gave generous applause to Mr. Shunichi Kinra (Faculty of Economics), Ms. Junko Baba (Faculty of Social Sciences) and Mr. Acelar Gontijo Pedro (Faculty of Law) for their great MCing in English.
