President Koichi Tadenuma visited partner institutions in Europe from September 5 to 8, 2017

In France, he visited École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS), Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and Sciences Po. He was accompanied by Satoshi Nakano, Vice President for International Affairs; Taiji Furusawa, Assistant Vice President for Research and International Affairs; and Rimiko Ikeda, Section Chief, Office of the President. President Tadenuma and the delegation had fruitful meetings and agreed to proceed with the further expansion of international collaboration with each institution.

The President then went on to the U.K., where he visited University College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and King’s College London Business School. Of particular note, at LSE he met with Dr. Dame Minouche Shafik, who had just taken up her new role as Director of the institution, beginning on September 1. The two discussed the strengthening of further cooperation based on the history of collaboration between their respective institutions.

Each of the institutions visited, long-time partners of Hitotsubashi University, is a world-class research institution with a track record of excellence in the fields of the humanities and social sciences. On the basis of our international partnerships, which have been enhanced even further through these visits, Hitotsubashi University seeks to cooperate and contribute to the advancement of research and education in the humanities and social sciences.
