CEO of Partner for Short-term Study Abroad Program (Spain) Awarded the 2015 Foreign Minister’s Commendation

Mr. Jaime Gorbena, Chairman of Berge y Cia, has been awarded the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY 2015 for advancing educational and cultural understanding between Spain and Japan.
A congratulatory letter from the University President Tadenuma has been delivered to Chairman Gorbena. The President hopes to further strengthen the mutual cooperation of globalization for university students.
Berge y Cia and Hitotsubashi University formed a partnership in 2007. Since then, 46 students have participated in the five-week, on-site, program envisioned by Chairman Gorbena at the Berge y Cia corporate headquarters in Madrid, Spain.
The Foreign Minister’s Commendation is awarded to individuals and groups for their outstanding achievements in international fields. This award acknowledges their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and regions. In addition, the Commendation also aims to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public toward the activities of the recipients.
The award ceremony was held on Oct. 13 at the Embassy of Japan in Madrid, hosted by Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa.
