Hitotsubashi University 11th Kansai Academia Symposium “Considering Abenomics ? How far will the three arrows fly?” February 22, 2014

We will hold the 11th Kansai Academia Symposium “Considering Abenomics ? How far will the three arrows fly?” on Saturday, February 22, 2014.

* You can watch the past Kansai Academia Symposiums here in Japanese only.

Over one year has passed since Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced Abenomics, which consists of three “arrows” for Japan to escape from deflation. As the first arrow, the Bank of Japan declared that they would achieve a target of a 2 percent inflation rate within two years by doubling the monetary base, and committed themselves to a wide range of quantitative and qualitative monetary easing. As the second arrow, emergency economic measures were included in the supplemental budget for 2013 and the government took front-loading fiscal measures in a 15-month budget that included the supplemental budget for 2013 and the budget for 2014. The third arrow, under the slogan of “JAPAN is BACK” and involving growth strategy stimulating private investment, is about to get under way. In this Kansai Academia, we will discuss these three arrows and examine each one in detail.
